This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an urban district with imaginative and creative students! My students are eager to deepen their knowledge of African American history and have elected to take my semester long course (African American History) in Texas. Together we can support their understanding of heritage and community by capturing the history around us. What better way to capture heritage than with a digital camera!
Community is all encompassing and we often fall short of acknowledging the African American heritage in our own backyard.
This project is a catalyst for the next generation of community place keepers. Together with your support, we can preserve and sustain with the next generation!
My Project
These items will enhance and engage student learners and their ability to understand heritage in our backyard. Each student will have a chance to snap photos of their heritage and the local African American history that resides nearby. Their creative photos will remain displayed for the school to see and will encourage more to sign up for the elective.
Let's imagine.
Have you ever walked past a captivating picture and dazed about what was? These students have a chance to captivate an audience with their lens and understand their heritage as well as others. Your generosity is more than an investment, it is the belief in their greatness.
