Welcome to a 3rd grade, bilingual classroom full of hard-working, enthusiastic students!
My bilingual classroom is the landing spot for 3rd graders who have just arrived in the United States. My students are incredibly hard workers who always come to school ready to learn, no matter what is going on outside of the classroom. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with all that they need to be successful learners.
My Project
More than anything, my students love the days when they come back from lunch to see the red and white Scholastic box waiting for them. They know this means they will have brand-new books to read. I love seeing their excitement when they see these new books, and how much it makes them enjoy taking books home to read.
I want my students to have class sets of several books about climate change, something that will impact their lives in a big way.
With these class sets of books, each of my students will be able to have their own copy to read, use for research, and learn about the effects of our changing climate. They will be studying climate change as part of their project-based learning curriculum, in which they will work to design several different solutions to the effects that climate change will have on our home of New York City. They will also work to design models of homes we can build so that people will not lose their homes to rising sea levels. With your support, every student will have a book in their hands to learn about this important topic!
