Save the Trees with Dry Erase!

Help me give my students dry erase supplies for math, ELA and handwriting. We use dry erase boards, markers, and erasers daily. We use them to learn how to write in ELA and add/subtract in math.

My Students

I teach in a multilingual kindergarten classroom. I have a mix of students from our school's neighborhood and students that are from other countries or bilingual. There are several different languages spoken by the students in my classroom; including but not limited to English, Spanish, Nepali, Arabic, and Swahili. My students are diverse in the languages they speak, their culture, and their academic abilities. A few students have attended PreK but most have never been in a school setting before. A few students don't even speak English when they first come to school.

I teach in a Title 1 school where all of my students qualify for free lunch.

Even though there are many challenges, they are happy to come to school and eager to learn. They are energetic, caring, and sometimes very funny kindergartners that deserve the very best I can offer them!

My Project

We will use the dry erase boards, markers, and erasers every day during reading and writing instruction in small groups. The boards will be used by all students at their level. This can be modeling correct letter formation, beginning to write words, to writing complete sentences with sight words.

Using whiteboards and markers increases student engagement and the students love to write on the boards and erase!

We will also use them in math. At the beginning of the year, we will use them to learn how to properly write numbers and then transition into learning how to write and solve addition and subtraction problems.
