Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.

Our students are always eager and ready to learn for the day.

One hundred percent of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds, experiences, and opportunities. Our diversity allows us to have a wide array of experiences which can be drawn upon by creating an engaging classroom environment where all students are able to focus and thrive. Student success is our number one priority.

My Project

Our 2nd grade team is requesting copies of the novel, "Michael and Ava's Louisiana Adventure." Our goal is to do a novel study on this book for the week of Earth Day. This novel focuses on how litter is destroying our environment. Our students are from Louisiana, and the book is based on the Louisiana environment. Students will be able to read how trash is destroying the land and animals that we love.

Through this novel, students will build their reading fluency, comprehension and make personal connections.

This is a great novel because it is set in the area they live in. After we read the novel, we are going to plant a tree at our school. Students will understand why this event is important, and why we should protect the environment we live in.

Our students struggle understanding the concept why we shouldn't throw trash on the ground. We feel this novel, will make an impact on them, and learn the Earth is ours to protect.
