My Students
Do you remember reading a series you really loved? You couldn't wait to read the next book. Imagine your disappointment as you visit the library shelf to find out that the next book is out for repairs. Unfortunately many of the popular series in our library have been read until their pages fall out.
Our school library serves over 1200 seventh and eighth grade students.
The students come from diverse family and cultural backgrounds. Many of our students are most excited about reading when they find a series of books that engages them. We are fortunate to have many readers in our school who know what they like and recommend their favorites to other students.
My Project
This project will give students more opportunities to share their favorite books with friends. Book series that have been slowly disappearing from our library shelves because of their condition would be made available for more students to read. The avid readers in our school will be able to continue to enjoy favorite books and the reluctant readers will have renewed opportunities to find books that have made avid readers out of their peers.
With library funding at near zero levels, this project will allow our library to continue to give our students the best service possible.
It will ensure that all students continue to have access to books that keep teens reading.
