My Students
I am a Special Education teacher in my first year. My students are very unique and have various learning difficulties. The classroom that I took over desperately needs new books. New books will help my students become better readers and boost their self-esteem. Our classroom is filled with many old and outdated materials and supplies, and those were hand-me-downs. We are special! We appreciate new materials.
I would like to show my students how much I care about their success in reading, as well as the importance of knowing how to read.
Many of my students come from challenging, underprivileged homes, and a few are homeless. Some of my students take a brown sack of food home on Fridays. I fell into this profession because I'm patient and understanding, and this is where I fit in. My students are the reason I smile.
My Project
My students need dictionaries and thesauruses for writing creative paragraphs and essays with ease. These resources will aid in spelling, understanding concepts, and learning new words.
My students are eager to read new novels that have been released in the last five years, and see new book jackets on their bookshelves.
My classroom is ready for new adventures that only come from reading pages of a new book.
It is sad that a lot of Special Education programs get leftovers and hand-me-downs, but I am here to change misconceptions toward a group of wonderful kids who deserve new supplies. New books will give my students a sense of pride and appreciation.
