I teach at an elementary school in Antioch, TN! Our school is very diverse with amazing students. Having a spot for all 24 of my students to sit on my carpet would make a huge difference in my classroom. In kindergarten we share every morning and have carpet time for reading, math, science and social studies.
Building a community is very important in my classroom.
In order to aide in building a community, we each need our own special space on the carpet to share and "own." I like my students feeling like they are part of a family and have a special spot. Currently, my students are having to share a spot and squeeze on top of one another.
