My students need basic art supplies such as paper, paints, and glue to create historic landmarks and buildings representing their home city of Savannah, GA.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I bet you remember a cool school project that taught you more than any worksheet ever did! My gifted students need the opportunity to learn about the history by building a model of their city of Savannah, GA.
My gifted 4th and 5th grade students are a diverse, bright crew with a great sense of humor.
The attend a Title I school in Georgia. These children can do anything they put their minds to, with the right resources. They are full of creativity, and eager to experience differentiated learning activities in this resource classroom.
My Project
Although my students live close to the historic district, many have never even experienced a visit downtown. I want to bring history to them, through a hands-on activity where they will have the opportunity to build a replica city and create famous landmarks. We would like to then present a "guided tour" of our creation to our school's younger students to offer them a history lesson and hopefully, write an additional grant to fund a trolley tour!
My students are enthusiastic learners who often are unable to meet their personal goals they set for themselves due to inadequate resources.
Often times, project supplies take a backseat to meeting family needs. Please help us learn about our city's history by supplying these precious learners with a few simple art supplies.
I thank you for your time and consideration.
