Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and travel a distance to attend our school. Nearly all of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and all receive free breakfast. Our school is not a neighborhood school and students must apply to attend. However, we accept all students who meet the minimum requirements, which are conduct and attendance in middle school.
We are a wall to wall academy high school with five academies.
The Health Academy students are able to job shadow at neighboring health facilities while attending our school.
Students are able to graduate high school and earn an entry-level workplace certificate in a specific field of interest.
My Project
Our student population requires additional sanitary supplies to help students cope with a stressful time during the school day. Many students come to school ill equipped to deal with body fluids that require sanitary products.
We have a Red Cross Club that meets regularly with peer to peer teaching.
These students will be able to provide sanitary products to students that are identified as in need of this service. Students will be able to come to the sponsor of the club and request products as needed. We hope to be able to provide assistance as needed. These products will definitely give students peace of mind in a most stressful time in their lives.
