My Students
The theater is a place where anything can happen and imagination can run free. Our Tech Theater class is that place to make that imagination come to life.
The students in my technical theater class are a wide range of individuals.
Some have always been in theater and know every show, others have never seen a show in their entire life. Either way, all are responsible for the creative completion of the school sets, props, and costumes for any production in the auditorium. My students usually come into the class with limited to no knowledge of how the theater works and or how to build a set. But by the end they have completed a work of art worthy of the stage.
My Project
Technical theater is a class that allows imagination to come to life. Each set, prop, and musical is always different from the previous one. This means that there is countless items to be made to make a show come to life. This belt sander will be used to finish wood working projects, to sand the projects smooth. However, the bigger application for this tool is to use it to carve foam. Imagine a student wants to make a 5 foot tall gargoyle statue, he or she will spend hours carefully cutting and sanding every detail into that project. This tool allows that student to sand down large pieces into the exact shape that the projects needs to be. Students will be able to take their work to the next level with the application of this sander.
My students take great pride in the work they do for the theater.
Every show is hand crafted to be as professional as possible. Our goal is to build a prop shop, a space that anything can be crafted from. This tool will help get us that one step closer to that goal. My students have been working very hard to build that space, they just need a little help. This prop shop will truly allow any student to dream and than make that dream come to life.
