My Project
My classroom is in need of 12 sand trays to help with our daily reading instruction. These trays will be used as a kinesthetic component to our reading lessons. There are numerous scientific studies that show when students use multiple senses while learning, their ability to remember information increases.
My students will use these trays daily to write sight words and phonics patterns that they are working on to commit them to memory.
These sand trays will allow students to learn using more than just their eyes and ears. We currently have one sand tray in our classroom to share between 12 students. This is not efficient and also does not allow for every student to get everyday practice with their words using the sand tray. We would love to get a one to one ratio of sand trays to students so every student can get daily practice using this mode of learning. Thank you so much for your consideration to fund our project!
