it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is in need of a new sensory table that will create fun and engaging sensory experiences for my preschool students. The table I'm requesting is designed to enrich children's playtime with four basins dedicated to sensory exploration, featuring materials like sand, water, toys, and shaving cream to stimulate touch and sight. This table will encourage open-ended play, allowing children to explore, experiment, and hone their creative and problem-solving skills both independently and with friends. Its adjustable design caters to different heights, ensuring easy access to contents and the four lids encourage easy clean up for my students.
Research shows that sensory play is vital for preschool children as it supports their overall development in multiple ways.
Sensory play enhances cognitive skills by encouraging exploration and problem-solving, while also refining fine motor skills through activities like pouring and scooping. Engaging in sensory play helps build language skills as children describe what they are experiencing, and it promotes emotional regulation by providing calming experiences. Additionally, sensory play fosters social interaction, creativity, and physical development, making it an essential component of early childhood learning and growth.
