Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
More than 2/3 of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Funds are low and students' needs are high. I currently teach three sections of students with identified Special Education students across my Social Studies and Science classes. I also co-teach NEST Science and Social Studies for my school's Autistic students in a new hands-on program designed to work with highly functional students in a more typical setting.
Every day my students work hard to meet their personal goals and I work just as hard to help them too, especially with STEM Learning Applications.
As a teacher of students with varying needs, I know all students can learn and should be challenged with rigor and relevance in a positive learning environment so that they can further develop a community understanding of the world in which they live to become real-life global learners.
As a 6th grade teacher and I know that my classes can lack exposure to Science and Social Studies concepts for background knowledge applications. As a result, I consistently use individualized and cooperative techniques to reach a variety of needs using hands-on activities as much as possible.
My Project
We are requesting a STEAM Makers cart and MB replicator and mini plus to provide tools and resources to the entire middle school. The selected technology allows for a rich experience across all grade levels. The materials selected will help all students including special education students. These resources will help us provide opportunity to learn the machines in each grade.
The Samsung VR Goggles are key to the development of our STEM program.
I have sought to create a supply list in conjunction with the GT Teacher of our school to ensure that all students are exposed to this equipment. We have sought supplies such as computers and Chromebooks that will seamlessly be integrated into the classroom for work and research.
The weather station will allow for student interaction with the community and various technology which will lead to the creation of a school news report on the weather and climate.
Students will use the 3-D goggles to experience places and educational material that they would never have the opportunity to see otherwise. Our goal is to bring the outside world in.
The button maker and T Shirt press are designed to help the students make viable and tangible items to spread their message and vision for our school into the community. Our students will use the consumables to create artwork and designs intended to highlight their message of inclusion and acceptance. They will focus on students' lives and bring awareness to the issues they face in the world around them.
STEM-focused technology will empower our students to engage the outside world. Our consumable supplies have been selected to help students create and demonstrate their ideas and future project designs. Our intention is to provide every student the chance to share with the world what they wish.
