My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching US History and Computer Science Principles to juniors and seniors at a public high school in Newark, NJ. No matter what obstacles my students face on a daily basis, from being teenage parents, to raising siblings, or even being homeless they always come to class excited and eager to learn. However, they are deprived of some of their basic needs.
In the city of Newark, many students residing in the West Ward live below the poverty line.
The high school where I teach is located in the West Ward. We are a Title I school where 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
This board will increase the likelihood of engagement of my students virtually and once we are able to return to in-person instruction. While teaching virtually, I can teach lessons using this board and my students will be able to clearly see the lesson using Webex and Google Classroom. When we are able to return to the classroom, my students will be able to work collaboratively together since 4 students can write simultaneously and they can utilize this board to share presentations with their classmates remotely from their seats.
My Project
The Samsung Flip 2 will allow me to deliver virtual lessons that my students deserve. Newark is providing our students with remote learning opportunities for the time being. Many of my students either have younger siblings, connection issues, or limited resources at home that prevent them from attending our virtual classrooms and being present for live instruction.
Immediately the inclusion of the Samsung Flip 2 in my classroom will allow me to provide live instruction as well as record the notes for the students that missed class.
Once we return to the classroom this board will allow for students to interact either remotely from their desks, cellphone, tablet, or eventually with scribing tool provided.
