Help me give my students the same book and different treats for the December holidays to experience the universal emotion of joy that fosters health & wellness.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am teaching a fabulous group of first-grade students in a Title I school who are eager to learn and grow. I have the good fortune of touching students’ lives every day and I like to see their faces light up with smiles whenever they receive treats and gifts.
Although we are different on the outside, we are the same on the inside - we all experience good health and wellness when we have joy.
Although it is a bit early for the December holidays, I wish to begin acquiring items for gift bags that will be filled with different treats that will bring the same joy to all. I am kindly asking the DonorsChoose community to help me bring my project to life by donating to my classroom.
The book “We’re the Same, We’re Different” is a delightful book to help little ones to understand the concept. The different items that will go into each gift bag will also help them to understand that we’re all the same because we get those same warm fuzzy feelings when others bring joy to us. I am purposeful with the request of the brown bags because my students and I have a “tan” skin color - students will decorate their bags in their own special and unique way. This will once again demonstrate the concept of same and different.
