Help me give my students a hands on experience that will teach the importance of eating healthy.

My Project

In working with my students this year I have found that my students need to develop their understanding of healthy eating habits. This includes learning about the main food groups, the foods that fit into these groups, and how to plan a healthy meal. This project will help my students with their food insecurities also.

As my class has special needs, the use of hands-on materials is extremely beneficial.

A garden provides opportunities to reach students using all multiple intelligence learning styles: kinesthetic, naturalist, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, linguistic, logical, and spatial.

Using hydroponics will take it to the next level. Along with lessons about eating healthy, we can delve into the science behind hydroponics. Lessons of the science behind this will have more meaning. The hydroponic kit and pods will enable this dream to become a reality.
