My Students
Students are gifted and talented; always eager to try something new. They come from various boroughs of New York City to attend class in East Harlem. Their various races and backgrounds give the school a vibrant feel of culture. Students are critical thinkers and require different learning styles to accommodate their needs. Within the school day students are analyzing images, text and completing hands-on task to develop their understanding. Students are asking questions and engaged in peer discussions to deepen their understanding.
My Project
Our science classroom is new and students are eager for hand-on activities. We have a sanitizer closet to clean goggles but we do not have goggles for the students to wear. My students are always completing labs and investigations but because we don't have goggles that limits what we can do. Having goggles will give the students more opportunities to participate in more scientific investigations involving liquids and other materials. In addition students can have the option to choose their seating when completing group work; either at a table or on the carpet. I want students to feel comfortable as they learn.
