My students are full of wonder and curiosity. They are constantly exploring the world around them and learning new things every day. Pre-K is all about hands-on learning and my students love to dig in with all their five senses.
My students come from all different types of backgrounds and cultures.
Many of them have little or no experience with the world around them. Their parents have limited resources and are unable to buy them the educational toys to help them progress and succeed. Their main experience comes from my classroom and the trips I take them on.
Even after 17 years of teaching it still amazes me as I watch them grow and learn. Pre-K students have an amazing ability to soak in information. The growth in their maturity and learning is so rapid. The more we expose them to, the more they grow. The metamorphosis through out the year is absolutely the most incredible sight I have ever seen.
My Project
Pre-K is the first school experience that most children have. Many only know the comfort of their own home. They often come in scared and crying. They need the an environment and teachers that remind them of home to feel secure and safe. My classroom furniture and space is designed to promote the security they need so that they can relax and learn.
Each child needs a comfortable chair to sit in while they work in their centers and "cubby space" for their personnel belongings.
This allows them to feel secure and venture out into a new world of learning and exploration.
