This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district provides many challenges. The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds but they have one thing in common...their thirst for learning in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. They desire an environment that provides ample opportunities for active learning to take place while they are challenged and explore through the use of hands-on activities.

We provide rigorous instruction that enables our children to achieve academic excellence while building the social and emotional skills needed to become well-rounded individuals.

My goal is to offer my students experiences that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. I strive to provide them with hands-on materials that will inspire them to interact, investigate and explore. They love books, technology, and manipulating the environment through their senses. Together we make learning fun and successful.

My Project

Navigating unchartered waters is our new norm. As I await the arrival our students, I want to ensure that we keep everyone in our learning environment safe in order to have a successful learning experience. To do so, I am noting many important materials needed in the classroom to be consistent with health and safety protocols.

Safety First is our most important rule in the classroom therefore, as we prepare to welcome back our students we must be able to do so safely in order to deliver a high quality education.

The books will be used as visuals and discussion prompts to explain social distancing to the children. The use of the floor stickers will assist me in lining up the students six feet apart. Hand sanitizer, face masks and disinfecting wipes will be used in accordance with CDC guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment. The laptop stands and dry erase magnet boards are essential teaching materials to conduct virtual and hybrid teaching/learning simultaneously.
