Safety First! in Science

My students need safety goggles, a cabinet to sanitize them in, a demonstration safety shield, dishwasher and pouring shields to keep everyone safe in science class.

My Students

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." ~Henry de Bracton, c. 1240. My students LOVE doing Hands-on, inquiry based STEM activities, and I want to keep my wonderful charges SAFE and secure!

I have 175 inquisitive 8th grade students who are eager to learn Physics, Astronomy and Chemistry, how it relates to them and the world around them.

They are a very diverse group of young teenagers, with varied ethnicity, backgrounds, interests, aspirations, hopes and dreams. They are like sponges, soaking up new ideas with boundless curiosity and wonder. We have students of all levels, from advanced to far below basic in English/language arts and math. I want to make sure that they finish the year safely, with many opportunities to engage in STEM activities, and are ALL proficient in science, and your donation will help us move closer to our goal!

My Project

To ensure the safety of my students when they are engaged in Hands-on STEM activities, particularly ones that involved any chemicals or flame, they need safety goggles properly positioned on their eyes at all times. The new goggles will fit securely and comfortably, much better than the older, poorer fitting ones. The bright colors will encourage them to wear them and be safe. The small shields will be an additional layer of protection for students when pouring liquids. The Goggle Sanitizer will use UV light to sanitize the goggles in between wearings and prevent the spread of microbes. The Safety Shield will be an added layer of precaution between any demonstration and the students. The dishwasher will be used to clean and sterilize student lab equipment.

My students need to be able to engage in hands-on STEM activities during science class to get interested in pursuing STEM careers.

I need to know they will be as safe as possible as they discover and learn. Please help me ensure the safety of all my students for years to come.
