My Project
I believe that there is not enough kindness in the world. I feel that the classroom is a huge part of where these students "live" for 12 years of their lives. Why not help them grow into responsible, kind, empathetic, and emotionally regulated children? Having the tools, such as culturally diverse books, books on feelings, activities on how to approach certain situations, and tools to help learn to regulate emotions, is such a big help in the classroom.
These tools are going to help shape students to be calm, cool, and collected.
They will also help them to know what emotions they are feeling and that it is okay to feel all of their feelings. I will be able to teach them that we are human and we have good days and bad days. Though when our feelings are negative, it is okay to feel them, but it is not okay to act negatively to other people or be unkind.
My students are such amazing students who see the same 30 students, day in and day out. When you are in such a small and tight-knit group, there are bound to be some negative feelings. With this knowledge, they will slowly learn how to change their mindset into something more positive and calm. They will then be the ones to pass on their knowledge to others, causing a chain reaction of kindness.
