This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a preschool special education class. My classroom is one where I hope to create a welcoming environment full of respect and compassion. With the help of these materials, I hope to create work that the students can be proud of and remember for a lifetime.
I have students with a range of disabilities.
These disabilities include Autism, Down Syndrome and Speech and Language Impairments.
My school is located in a low economic area and although I have very supportive parents who donate as much as they can, school supplies don’t come cheap. This donation will help me create lessons and environments that I can be proud to teach and show the families of my students. I want all families to know that their child is important and that I will be giving them my very best!
My Project
Students should be healthy and safe to learn best. When students do not feel well, their chances of succeeding decrease. In my class we have children that are non-verbal and it is very hard to know when they are not feeling well. With a digital thermometer, we will be able to know quickly if they have a fever; and it is also no touch, which is beneficial to the kiddos that are sensitive to touch.
Students will also benefit from a ring rope to stay in line to go to and from class.
Many of our kiddos need a clear representation of what being in a line means, so that is where the rings come in handy.
Additionally, coloring sorting bowls will help with the advancement of color knowledge and representation. This skill is important in little developing brains.
Lastly, items such a paper punches and replacements blades for paper cutters help create materials for the students to create wonderful works or art! These works of art then can be put up around the class with a little added flair from New boarders!
