My Students
My fantastic first grade classroom is in a high-poverty area. My students are faced with numerous challenges every day, both educationally and personally. This year we are back to school with full-time in-person instruction after being remote and hybrid last year.
This is their first in-person classroom experience.
It is motivating to watch them explore, discover, and learn. They help me to be a better teacher. I believe in them, and more importantly, they believe in themselves.
They are curious, caring young boys and girls! There are 18 students in the class that range in interests and abilities. This year we are back in the building full-time. It is challenging for my littles to be away from their families for the first time.
My students are grasping how to be paper and pencil students. I really enjoy teaching my students how to have grit and persevere. We are learning to work on both papers and on our devices on Seesaw, Class Dojo, and i-Ready. To be better equipped no matter what our future holds.
My Project
To minimize the spread of Covid and other viruses, our district is assigning personal laptops to each student. We are advised to keep them securely locked up and to charge them each night. This charging cart is exactly what is needed to empower my students for a full day of learning.
Our students use their laptops for an online individualized learning platform, that is differentiated exactly for them.
It meets them at their "just right" level and provides strategic instruction to close gaps and stretch their learning.
This charging cart will enable the use of their laptop in class without the need for multiple extension cords and the hazards they pose.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
