My Students
My students are individuals that make the world a better place by their ability to make others imagine, accept, love, persevere, and see the good in this world. I am the kindergarten through second grade autistic and emotional support teacher at my school.
The students demonstrate my one rule in the classroom each day, "Do your best." This can be seen by their focus on academic, social, and behavioral goals.
We are a small rural town in Pennsylvania that has often been described as the "cool town with warm hearts."
My Project
My students will each have an area in our classroom with their own bins of hands-on tasks, independent work bins, program and curriculum goals, and leisure items.
By organizing an area for the students, they will have their own “apartment” when doing some tasks.
This area will include their own special seating, bookcase, sensory containers, and storage containers that can itemize their different bins.
Their own area will provide the structure, organization, safety, and a sense of home. It will allow them to keep their distance safely and give them a feeling of ownership over their spot and materials.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
