This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is very small with students who need support and resources wherever they can get them. COVID-19 has impacted them by throwing them off of the mindset of how to attend school, figuring out their why, and understanding how to get acclimated with school. It is my first year teaching and providing counseling services for students at SH. I am quite busy with making sure each students social, emotional learning is met. I am ensuring through provided materials students feel my space will allow them to be themselves. I am hoping the students feel comfortable sharing their stories and making sure their voices are heard.

SH focuses on the WHY students are in school and the WHY their future is important.

In my class college and career readiness I focus on the why their future is important. I try to ensure the students know their options. We are creating a profession and college portfolio to help shed light on the students story. We will greatly appreciate the material provided so the students do not have to worry about buying it on their own. Right now our focus is on exploring different avenues of what the future can provide.

In Arizona homeless rates are skyrocketing and covid-19 is still impacting families heavily. I want school to make students feel worry free. School should be safe and should be a community for the students. My classroom should feel safe and welcoming. Being a teacher can be difficult sometimes with not knowing if you are doing enough to impact students. I want to make sure I make a difference in students lives.
