My Project

I like to create a space that my students are excited to be a part of, safe when they are having a hard day and a place they like to call their own and see their progress on the walls. My students deserve a spot where they can take a break on good days, but also have a spot where they can go to when they need an extra minute. Also, my students seek out that external pressure, such a blankets, hugs and pressure from weighted animals. By having some weighted blankets available for students to use when they need it, this will help them attend to their tasks along with providing the external stimulant that will help them stay in the safe zone. Also, my students love to create and have time to paint. Watercolor is one medium that is most calming for my students, and brings a great amount of joy when they see their work displayed throughout the room and hallways. Finally, my students need movement throughout their day, however they are unable to participate in free play. My students need directions and order to fulfill the movement piece. With winter coming up, going outside takes a lot more time then we have. By using the movement dice that will allow a fun change to our regular stations, that the students will really enjoy.
