This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a high need area. My students live in an urban environment where basic classroom necessities are a struggle to get. We struggle to get paper, pencils, and notebooks every year. Our school does the best it can to fulfill these needs but at times we just need more.
Despite the struggle for learning materials, my students love school and love learning.
They are eager to improve and constantly challenge themselves. Any and all support is truly appreciated.
My Project
The students will use the bins to keep their notebooks and folders for reading and writing organized. We are currently using hospital wash bins to store their materials. These bins are flimsy and cracking. This is posing a safety risk to the students. Additionally, they are not appealing to the students. The new bins will create renewed excitement for the students. The book bins will be used for it classroom library. Our current bins are broken. The students have to be careful to not cut or scratch themselves when looking for books. I do not want learning to be a dangerous or unappealing time!
