Safe Sensory Seascape

My Project

We are creating a Safe, Sensory Seascape in our elementary special education classroom. This will provide our overstimulated students with a safe, inviting and calming environment in which to decompress, self-regulate and reset themselves to enable them to return to learning activities.

Our students will be able to use sensory seating options for focusing on balance, or snuggling into enveloping comfort.

Soft, fluffy carpeting provides a soothing sensory experience to curl up and self-regulate; while sea friend pillows are great for hugs providing pressure for relief of stress.

Sensory fidgets will be used by students to help relieve anxiety and provide opportunities for safe self-stimulation.
