Help me give my students a rug and bean bag chair for a place to feel safe and able to calm themselves for a few minutes when needed, and fidget toys and snacks to provide positive reinforcement throughout the day!
Giving students a place to feel safe and cared for allows them to find a few minutes to regulate themselves when they need it. COVID-19 has greatly impacted our students and their families socially and emotionally and as we adjust to being back in school full time, students are having to relearn how to navigate a full school day and all that comes with it! I am creating a quiet space with the rug and bean bag chair for them to take a few minutes when they need it, as well as to provide positive reinforcements throughout the day. Fidget toys will be offered to students who need a quiet and discreet way to handle anxiety and their need to move through the day while staying focused. Snacks will also be offered for students who may come to school hungry or need a snack to be able to focus better during teaching times.
