My Project

Percy (our guinea pig) is famous in our classroom. He loves the students and they love him. Percy has been an excellent addition to our class, especially for students who may be shy or have learning or speaking delays. Animals in the classroom have a long history of being beneficial because they elicit conversation, peak children's interests and provide comfort for shy or upset children. When children are able to regulate and join into classroom discussions and interactions, their learning is positively impacted.

I am hoping to upgrade Percy's home to a safe and secure space that allows students to better see and interact with him safely and successfully.

Percy's home is currently on the floor, and it is sometimes hard for students to observe his safety boundaries when they are trying to visit with him.
