Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have only met the majority of my students through Zoom, but I am so proud of the progress they have made in the virtual setting. They started not knowing how to work online platforms for creating art, writting in full sentences, and creatively using strategies to solve math problems.
On the 19th of October, we are expected to return to the classroom and I am very concerned that many students may feel uncomfortable in the regular seating arrangements that they have not had since March.
My Project
We will have a lot of anxiety returning to school and we will not be able to safely move around the classroom to collaborate and do group work.
I would like help with funding flexible seating that allows students to move at their individual seats as a way to relieve stress and improve concentration.
Normally students would have opportunities to move around the classroom and these seating options are proven to increase concentration and improve learning outcomes. Research has shown that many students benefit by focusing more. I will share with the other 2nd-grade class in my school.
