Safe and Healthy Environment Promotes Great Learning

My Students

Eighty-seven percent of my students are from low-income households and many of them have to use public trains and buses just to get to school. Some even travel over an hour each way. My students are making an active decision to better their education by attending our school.

Our school is an honors for all high schools, meaning that each of my students is in honors-level courses.

Not only do we cover honors-level material, but we expect our students to participate in labs, activities, and think beyond the standard curriculum.

My Project

Our students will be returning to school soon! One of the most important things for their return is safety for everyone in the building. Very few resources are being provided at the school level for cleaning and ensuring a safe environment. My building is very old, and very large making school-wide filtration difficult. We will likely be asked to keep our windows open in lieu of filtration.

In order for my students to learn, they need a safe and clean environment.

Beyond Covid, every year, many of my students are out sick due to colds, flu, etc. These filters could help keep my room safe and healthy for years to come!
