My Students
Pre-K for All is a program within the New York City Department of Education that provides all four-year-olds with full-day quality education. Pre-K for All gives children stronger reading and math skills.
My site is a Pre-K Center exclusively dedicated to Pre-K students.
We are located in Brooklyn and have a diverse population.
We have a center-based learning model. The students learn by engaging in purposeful play while teachers engage the students in meaningful conversations.
In my program, we like to provide lessons that are interactive so the children can learn by doing.
My Project
At the beginning of last school year, my classroom rug was removed to follow COVID-19 protocols. My classroom rug is our meeting area for lessons, read aloud’s and morning meetings. It is our classroom gathering spot. Without the rug, students were left to sit on the hard floor. I used floor stickers to mark safe spaces for students so that they can sit at a safe social distance. At the start of this school year, I would like to provide students with a soft seating area that can be easily moved around to maintain social distance. These spots can be easily cleaned and will add to my warm classroom environment.
