This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every student learns in a different way and I am a firm believer in differentiating instruction in my classroom so that all of my Kindergarten students succeed.
I teach in a kindergarten classroom with 19 kindergartners at an all kindergarten school with 500 students!
All of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is in a very low socioeconomic community. Most of our students have not had the opportunity to attend Pre-K or have significant learning experiences in their homes.
My Project
For my students to have the best kindergarten experience possible, I need to give them a space that is conducive to learning. For 5-year-olds, that type of environment needs to be organized, structured, and they need to know their surroundings. Literacy and math centers include playing learning games and completing work stations that need manipulatives and game pieces. We desperately need some storage to hold all of our manipulatives so that my students don't waste any time looking for certain things they need to learn. I want them all in one place and that will be the go-to place for centers. Having a storage system like the one I am requesting will allow for more learning time. In return, my students are receiving the best education possible.
