it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The "Running with the LIONS" project aims to support 45 student athletes at our school by providing them with essential running attire, specifically Sport Tek warm-up gear, in preparation for the upcoming track and field season. With over 95% of our student body qualifying for free and reduced lunch, many of our athletes face financial barriers that prevent them from acquiring the necessary equipment to compete effectively and feel like a cohesive team.
Project Goals:
Equip Student Athletes: Provide each of the 45 student athletes with proper warm-up attire to enhance their performance and confidence. Promote Team Unity: Foster a sense of belonging and teamwork among athletes, essential for their development both on and off the field. Encourage Participation: Remove financial barriers that deter students from participating in track and field activities.
Background
Our boys’ track team has demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, winning the 2023 CSAA Track Competition and securing both borough and city championships in 2024 for the CPSAL. Meanwhile, our newly established girls’ program also made impressive strides, claiming the borough championship and finishing 4th at the city level in 2024. With your generous support, we aim to continue this momentum and strive for victory in both boys’ and girls’ championships this year
