This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are residents of one of the poorest counties in the district. Additionally, many of my students are not English proficient, in addition to their social-emotional needs and disadvantages. My scholars are so motivated and eager to learn. Despite their circumstances, they are in school every day ready to take on challenges. These students are motivated to learn and overcome any obstacles they face on a daily basis.
Their inquisitive minds and avid appetites for learning, challenge me to provide them with the best learning experiences that can spark and continue leading their creative minds.
Despite the adversities, they may encounter on a daily basis their empathy for their peers and their community inspires me to go above and beyond to support them. I would do whatever it takes to lead their way.
My Project
This project is for my amazing track and field student-athletes that have been at home, missing and craving the desire to be back doing what they love: running, jumping, and throwing. This project will supply the team with equipment such as exercise mats, backpacks for keeping their uniform and spikes, and lastly Biofreeze for there achy muscles. The school has recently lost all its funding for any sports-related activity. Additionally, the school does not have the funding to pay for the students to practice at the armory, which limits us to only practice at the school. Obtaining these supplies will increase my students' motivation and consistency. Moreover, obtaining the materials requested will provide every athlete the ability to practice together as a team. Also, providing the student-athletes with a personal backpack will provide the students with accountability to keep all their track related gear in one place.
Due to the track and field training involving high impact activities and movements, training mats must be used to protect student athletes from injuries.
Also, the mats will decrease the severity of an accident and help protect student athletes from harming themselves. Lastly, Biofreeze is perfect for rest and recovery periods for my student athletes to have at their disposal.
