Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a high poverty neighborhood with a very diverse range of home structures: nuclear, single parent, foster, and migrant, to name a few.
My students love to be at school and enjoy learning, especially when the activities are hands-on.
Many of my students are English language learners who attend a public school in the South Central Los Angeles area. They are always excited to experience any kind of technology that I'm able to bring to my class.
My Project
My students are learning about healthy eating habits and exercise in order to start to live a healthy life! Some of my students need encouragement in order to get moving. The fitness watch will be a great way for them to stay motivated to reach their step goals each day. Each student will be responsible for their own tracking, in turn, will foster independence, responsibility, and accountability of their exercise program. Along with the fitness watch, students will be making healthy recipes for breakfast and lunch to encourage them to make and eat these healthy recipes outside of school. Once is clear for my students to come back to school there will be a running club for girls. The goal is for the girls to develop confidence in running and believe in themselves.
