This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My name is Ms. Amaral and this year I am coaching a group of middle and high school students to run the LA Marathon. The school I teach in is located where multiple socioeconomically disadvantaged families reside in single-family dwellings. Believe me when I say that these students deserve my project.
For some of my students this is their first time joining an extracurricular activity, and they are extremely excited to train for the LA Marathon!
They have consistently showed up to practice and even motivated their own families to exercise with them.
I noticed that several of the students do not carry water and have a hard time holding other items to fuel during long distances. Since the majority of students are from low-income households they can't afford to purchase running gear. I would like to get these water backpacks to help them carry their water and belongings for our longer runs. It is very important for their training.
