About My Students

My students are young, excited learners with diverse backgrounds. They are always eager to take on new challenges and explore. My students are high achievers, yet, from various different economic backgrounds. Our school is considered to be a school of need according to the number of students that qualify financially for free lunch programs.

My students are very active; therefore, I try to create projects that keep them moving, thinking, and challenging. With students eager to learn, I definitely want to make sure that I have the necessary resources for them to complete their project.

My students will be running our first school business. They will be learning how to write a business plan along with the aspects of running a photography business, such as, budgeting and finance, customer service, and picture taking.

The items requested for this project are the equipment needed to take pictures, such as, the camera, tripod, and background drops. The memory card will be used to store the pictures, while the camera shutters will be used to snap the pictures.

So many skills will be learned from this project. The students will learn teamwork, develop marketing skills, start a business from scratch, and they will learn photography. In addition, the students will learn about budgeting, along with supply and demand.

In Their Own Words

My project idea is to provide a photographer at our school's special events, such as, dances and shows. At each event, our team will provide an opportunity for students and others to take personal pictures against our backdrops. They will pick a package and will be able to order those pictures. Also, I would like for our team to take pictures throughout the school year and put together a video yearbook.

As a leader, I will help set up and organize any events with my team. I will also make sure that my team and the class will do well in each role that they are assigned. As a team leader, I will continue to motivate and encourage them to think of great ideas for marketing our business and making a profit.

This project is important to me because I want to one day own my own flower shop. Learning how to start and run a business will help me to know how to start my own. This project will be a challenge because we have to sell our idea to our principal. We need to make sure that we have a great business plan, so that she will give us access to a room in the building to use as our studio.
