This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Students:

The students are inquisitive, bright, and enthusiastic learners.

They are interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and improving their physical fitness. They are looking forward to the challenge of building long distance running endurance. Having a set goal of completing a marathon and following through teaches them how perseverance yields success. This is a lesson that can be applied to all parts of their lives

Unfortunately, many families are experiencing unemployment, evictions, COVID-19, and loss of loved ones. Many students in our community live in small apartments or homes where they live with several families due to the high cost of living. Some families can't afford to buy basic school supplies for their children, much less items needed for long distance running.

My Project

Your donations will help our Students Run L.A. (6th-8th graders) who train with Coach Valdez and Coach Ham to successfully complete the Los Angeles Marathon.

The families of our runners are unable to buy the proper equipment that the students need to participate in long-distance running.

Obtaining the necessary athletic gear from DonorsChoose will provide students the resources to train and reach their goals. Quality running shorts, sweats, and socks are a must-have to train for this event. These items will make running more comfortable and provide students a running uniform.
