My Students

As a first-year teacher, I have been going through a year totally different than I ever could have imagined. Although I am looking ahead to brighter days, I am stuck in the harsh reality of virtual learning which has brought so many bright and positive moments but also hard and trying ones.

Finding out about DonorsChoose gives me hope that I can give an exceptional virtual education to all the students on my roster.

Donors Choose also helps me take a "government" funded classroom (boring, bland, blah) and make it a TEACHER-funded classroom (warm, comforting, inviting.)

My Project

As a 3rd grade teacher reflecting on her own years of being a 3rd grade student, I vividly remember my teacher calling us to the carpet. It was always a transition that I looked forward to. I got to sit next to my friends, while paying attention of course, and it brought a sense of unity in the classroom as the whole class sat together.

I would like to bring what brought me comfort as a student to my own own students.

I would like to add a area rug to my classroom so I have a spot in the room where my students and I can come together for whole group instruction. It can also provide a space for students to sprawl out on when doing independent work.
