This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so excited to meet my incoming 5th graders. They are part of a bilingual program known as EFL, also known as English as a Foreign Language. My students are constantly ready to take on fresh information and learn something new. Most of them are new to the country and are always full of questions, wanting to know the world around them in a new language. Their curiosity is invigorating and refreshing, and it is contagious among our classroom community.

In my class my students get to learn and practice skills in an environment that requires them to get their "creative juices" flowing.

My Project

This rug will allow students to enjoy reading in our classroom library. It will serve as a story telling area and also a nice place for students to coop up with a good book, as well as a meeting area. Reading is essential in our ELA class.

I want to motivate students to visit our library center as much as possible.

Our old rug ran its course and it is time for the incoming class to enjoy a crisp new rug. I know it will be a way to welcome my students, to not only a new year but also a fresh and new library center.
