This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderful group of third graders. Most of them are English language learners who come from low-economic backgrounds.
One thing I try to teach my students is a love for reading. To do this I provide a variety of reading books, a small sofa, a couple of bean bags, and an area rug. My classroom had an area rug that I had purchased a few years back. Unfortunately, it got to be so old and dirty we had to throw it away last year. I like to have an area rug in the library so that my students can sit and read quietly. We don't have one right now so the library is not very inviting.
I desperately need a small area rug that fits perfectly around the library bookcases. With the rug, the library will feel much cozier and will hopefully attract many more readers.
To be able to read is very important, but to read for fun is a true gift. Please help me make my library a more inviting area so that my students will have a place to sit and enjoy a book. Thank you in advance for your help!
