My Students
I'm teaching a 4th and 5th grade reading class. You know the feeling when you can sit somewhere comfortable and read a good book? My kids have a tile floor and their desks. I'd like to provide them a comfortable reading spot and a place where we can gather as a group for reading.
My school is title one in Baltimore city.
My kids are amazing, they have their personal struggles but they are working hard to be successful. It's not easy to live in a place that surrounds you with negative influence. It's important that students have a safe and comfortable environment in the classroom.
My Project
Having a classroom rug would make a HUGE difference in my classroom! It would give students an area where we can do group reading together and they won't be separated by desks. It will provide a place for individual reading time that makes reading feel fun. Having a rug will change the dynamic of my classroom so that kids begin to see how fun reading can be. I also believe it will encourage them to read more often.
This project is so important.
I work at an amazing school with incredible people. We believe in our students but we don't have access to the same resources as other schools. I want to provide the best for my kids to put them on a path to lifelong learning. And you can be a part of that vision!
