RRR....Reading And Relaxing In Resource!

My Students

I am lucky enough to teach in a Special Education resource room. Throughout the day, we service 50+ students in the subjects of math, reading and writing. We also provide support to classroom teachers who have students who are struggling academically with grade level curriculum. Daily we provide small group settings with individualized education programs.

Our students all have been diagnosed with some kind of disability but that does not stop them from learning!!

We focus on their individual strengths while learning from our mistakes and from our fellow classmates. We move at a slightly slower pace with more repetition to help struggling students grasp difficult concepts. It is truly the best job in the world and I learn from my students daily.

My Project

Having success throughout the school day is what keeps students going. Often times our students enter our classroom feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. By providing flexible seating for our students, they can come into a safe environment, and relax while learning to love reading.

Learning to read is difficult for all students.

Learning to read when you have a learning disability can be even more challenging. We feel that repetition and gaining a love for reading can help all students. Sometimes a change in seating can provide a child a more comfortable and less formal setting which can help them to release some of the anxiety that builds up when it comes to reading.
