This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse learners! They each have unique needs that I try very hard to provide for. The one thing they all have in common is their hearts. My student are loving, caring, and strive to do their best! These students face many challenges that sometimes get in the way of them achieving their goals. The challenges range from specific diagnoses to unstable lives outside of school. Most of my families are working class and still trying to recover from the impacts of Covid-19. School is one of the only consistent comforts for many of my students. I appreciate you taking the time to consider helping us out.

My Project

The key to mastering letters and sight words is multisensory practice and repetition. My students have materials in sheet protectors within binders so that they can be used day after day with dry-erase markers and magnetic letters. Students keep visual sight words on lanyard chains at school and at home to ensure the words don't get lost.

For social-emotional support, my students need visuals that can be changed based on the day.

This is made easier by laminating materials and adding Velcro dots to be able to change things on the fly. Card stock and colorful paper make these materials last longer and more engaging. We are not even halfway through this school year and I am out of supplies to make these materials. Thank you for your support!!
