My Students

I believe that every student should walk into a well-stocked classroom where they will always have the supplies to create, learn, and explore new ideas.

Welcome to a 3rd grade, bilingual classroom full of hard-working, enthusiastic students!

My bilingual classroom is the landing spot for 3rd graders who have just arrived in the United States. My students are incredibly hard workers who always come to school ready to learn, no matter what is going on outside of the classroom. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with all that they need to be successful learners.

My Project

People say that technology is the future. So, I ask myself, how can I bring the future into my third grade classroom? Throughout the school year, my students are introduced to new and different types of technology, and become familiar with using computers, laptops, iPads and more. My students love using their devices in applied learning scenarios, such as creating and coding robots to solve our weekly STEM challenges, and brushing up on their math skills. Because my students come from a low-income community, they often don't have access to these types of devices at home.

A Sphero SPRK+ would allow my students to have a new, unique opportunity to practice coding a device to do varied tasks, and integrate their coding lessons with math, social studies, and science.

My students will use their Sphero SPRK+ to learn how to program different types of robots, and how we can use robots to do different things for us. In social studies, my students might learn how to program their Sphero to create Egyptian Art. While they study city planning and climate change, my students might create a plan for integrating a Sphero-like robot into the citizens everyday life, or how they can be used to help us adapt to a changing climate.
