Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are full of energy, curiosity, and heart. I teach at a Title I school where over 90% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and many come from bilingual homes. Despite the challenges they face, they show up each day ready to learn, connect, and grow.

In our classroom, we work hard to build not only academic skills but also a strong sense of community.

One thing we are missing is a rug—a simple, yet powerful tool that helps turn a classroom into a safe, welcoming space.

A rug will give my students a comfortable, designated area where we can come together for morning meetings, read-alouds, small group learning, and reflective moments. For many of my students, school is their safe place, and having a cozy spot to gather can make all the difference in how they feel about being here.

This rug will also support my bilingual students by giving us a space to practice language together, build vocabulary in both English and Spanish, and create meaningful shared experiences.

My goal is to create a classroom that feels like home, where every child is seen, supported, and encouraged to be their best. Your support will help create that kind of space, one where learning is not only academic, but emotional and social too.
