My Project
Hello! This year, I have changed the way I help my students expand their vocabularies. Each week, my students learn 4 new root words. They make a flashcard for each root word, and I keep them in the classroom. They have dedicated flashcard study time every week. My goal is to help students expand their vocabularies, since most words in the English language are made up of root words. This item helps them with that because consistently studying their flashcards each week has helped 90% of my students jump 1-3 grade levels with their vocabulary. On their flashcards, they write the root word, the meaning, and write a sentence that includes a word that contains the root. Additionally, they have a colorful picture that represents the root. Each of these things helps with processing. My students are special because of their eagerness to grow. Their self-confidence has soared throughout the year as they've been able to see the progress they are making. My students are special because of their growth mindset.
