Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My special needs students need support in many areas, but primarily with focus/attention. They struggle with the ability to stay in a center, or focus on a project or task. Visual stimuli around our classroom can be very distracting for them, especially when centers are happening.
My goal is to provide distraction-free centers in my classroom, so that students can focus on and attend to projects within the designated centers.
The visual room dividers will block the visual stimuli that exists in other sections of the room, and enable students to enjoy and attend to the items/toys/projects in front of them.
My students are special because they all struggle with transitioning, attending to tasks and communicating. It's very difficult for them to maintain their focus or attention on a task, especially with visual distractions in the classroom (other students, service providers, toys on the shelves, supplies around the room, etc.) It's my hope that these room dividers with help create organized centers, with clear visual boundaries and very little distractions.
